The Alliance just announced the promotion of Lisa Dixon Howard to Executive Director, we have a new neighborhood business update to share, and there are a bunch of great events coming up for folks to get involved with this spring. We are pleased to announce the selection of Lisa Dixon Howard as our new Executive Director. Lisa will fill the vacancy created by Leslie Smith’s departure in January to join Vulcan Inc. as their Public Policy Director of Government & Community Relations.

Occidental Square Park

Online Open House & Brown Bag Presentation
Occidental Square Park is the heart of Pioneer Square. To expand use of the park and existing activation, two new park elements are proposed: a new children’s play area and a new pavilion and concierge kiosk.

Occidental Square Park Task Force Meeting

You’re invited!
On March 5th, the Downtown Seattle Association is hosting a meeting in Pioneer Square to go over their involvement in the park, and to give you the opportunity to share your ideas about the future of this vibrant public space. Meet your neighbors and chat over complimentary snacks and refreshments.

“Alley Rally” Celebration
Thursday, April 5th
4:30–5:00pm Remarks in Occidental Square Park
5:00–7:00pm Alley Festivities in Pioneer Passage & Nord Alley
Join us in Pioneer Square to celebrate the completion of Nord Alley and Pioneer Passage! Both alleys now feature beautiful new brick surfaces and improved stormwater drainage systems. Let’s kick off the new and improved alleys with music and art from local artists. Stroll the alleys and visit the adjacent businesses during April’s First Thursday Artwalk and help us celebrate this exciting achievement.

Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program

Public meeting: Viaduct demolition noise variance
The Washington State Department of Transportation is making plans for demolition of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. As part of the project’s application for a noise variance, a public meeting will be held from4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 8, 2018, at the Waterfront Space, 1400 Western Ave., Seattle. This meeting will give the public an opportunity to learn about the project and provide comments. Members of the public can also provide comments via email toPRC@seattle.gov through March 8. Please include project number 3029782 in your email.

SR 99 Connections Project breaks ground

While preparations for viaduct demolition are underway, the SR 99 Connections Project recently started work at the project’s south construction area just west of Safeco Field. Crews will be installing drainage, illumination and signals, as well as building roadway, curbs and sidewalks. WSDOT installed a new construction time-lapse camera to capture this work at the tunnel’s south portal.

Have you seen an issue in the neighborhood, but didn’t know how to report it to get it taken care of? ” Find It, Fix It ” is a smartphone app offering mobile users one more way to report selected issues to the City of Seattle. Reporting an issue is as easy as snapping a photo with your smartphone, adding detailed information, and hitting submit. Help us keep our neighborhood clean and well maintained. Be on the lookout to report graffiti, potholes, street lights out, abandoned cars and other issues through the Find it, Fix it app,  online , or by calling 206-684-7587. If graffiti shows up on your property, make a police report by calling 206-625-5011.
