Seattle City Light is preparing to replace old clay conduit and underground power lines along 1st Avenue between Columbia and Cherry Streets and could start work as soon as Sept. 17. Waterfront Update: Friday, Sept. 14 – Thursday, Sept. 20

Construction overview Northbound SR 99 will be closed between S Royal Brougham Way and the West Seattle Bridge from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. On-ramps to and from S Royal Brougham Way will remain open to serve weekend event traffic. Crews will be putting finishing touches to the second of two side-by-side bridges that replace the viaduct’s south end. When reopened, the northbound bridge will carry two lanes of traffic and one bus lane. The southbound bridge will have three general purpose lanes. Thousands of riders will see changes to their routes starting Sept. 29. Dozens of routes will have different bus stops, travel on different streets or have changed schedules. Seattle Parks and Recreation, with contractor and Ron Wright and Associates, begins repair to the historical Pioneer Square Pergola on Monday, September 10, 2012. It is anticipated work will complete on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. During construction, a portion of the multipurpose lane on First Avenue, both north and south of Yesler Way, will be blocked off. Temporary signage will be installed to direct pedestrians around the construction zone.
