The Alliance for Pioneer Square is committed to promoting public safety and civility in the Pioneer Square neighborhood. The Alliance for Pioneer Square engages the community through open-houses, one-on-one conversations, and resource provision to promote public safety and civility. The Alliance for Pioneer Square partners with the City of Seattle to ensure and environment of public safety and civility by implementing strategies to improve the public safety experience and perception.

Public Safety Resources

City of Seattle Public Safety Numbers: The Seattle Police Department provides several public safety resources to Pioneer Square. Click here and here to find an full list of SPD resources.

Mental Health First Aid: Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches you how to help someone who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. The training helps you identify, understand and respond to signs of addictions and mental illnesses

Illegal Activity: 9-1-1 for both emergency and non-emergency reporting. 

On-Going Drug Activity: If police need to be aware of on-going drug activity but doesn’t require immediate response can be reported online as a Narcotics Activity Report or by calling 206-684-5797.

Metropolitan Improvement District (MID): 206-441-3303. Founded by the Downtown Seattle Association in 1999, the MID is a business-improvement area spanning 285 square blocks in downtown – from Denny Way to Pioneer Square and from I-5 to the waterfront. With funding from MID ratepayers, DSA provides cleaning, safety, concierge and homeless outreach services in six center city neighborhoods. 2-1-1: an easy-to-remember phone number for people to call for health and human service information and referrals and other assistance to meet their needs.

AlertSeattle: the official emergency notification system used by the City of Seattle to communicate with city residents during emergencies. Sign up now to receive free alerts from the City via text message, email, voice message or social media.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

2023 De-escalation Trainings with the Metropolitan Improvement District and Seattle Police Department: Throughout 2022, the Alliance for Pioneer Square, in partnership with the Metropolitan Improvement District (MID) and Seattle Police Department, will offer 1.5 hour de-escalation and personal safety trainings to any interested business in Pioneer Square. The trainings will be held virtually, with the opportunity for participants to engage with the trainers.


The MID/SPD de-escalation training is an in-depth training program that teaches participants how to recognize, reduce and manage aggressive behavior. Over the course of the presentation, the MID will provide effective and compassionate methods of handling anxious or aggressive people, as well as increase confidence and introduce skills that can be used during threatening situations. Members of SPD will also present on personal safety techniques and field individualized questions from attendees.

The organization Live Another Day has selected the 14 best rehabs based on these high standards for quality substance abuse treatment. This includes 6 residential addiction treatment centers. 2 PHP programs. 10 outpatient. 6 IOP programs. 2 luxury inpatient facilities.
