Traffic Advisory:

  • This weekend, October 19th – 22nd, James Street will be closed to through traffic at Broadway (Friday, 6:00 p.m. – Monday, 5:00 a.m.)

Water Main & Electrical Duct Bank Installations

Weekday Work:

  • Electrical duct bank installation between 1st and 2nd   
  • Water main installation and service transfers between 6th and 7th

  • Weekdays 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Note on Water Main Shutoffs:

The first of three area-wide water shutoffs in the Chinatown/International District was completed the weekend of October 6-7.  The remaining shutoffs will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Saturdays and continue until 10:00 a.m. on Sundays and are tentatively scheduled for the weekends of October 27-28 and November 3-4. If your building will be affected you will receive a notice directly from Seattle Public Utilities at least 72 hours in advance.

Waterfront snapshot from Friday, Oct. 12 – Thursday, Oct. 18

  • This week crews placed gravel in the space between the taxi holding area and Elliott Bay Trail between Columbia and Marion streets. Gone are the barrels and caution tape.
  • Also this week, a new pick up/drop off area was installed at Colman Dock, north of the Columbia crosswalk on the western curb. The zone is large enough for two cars and is a three-minute load and unload except from 3 to 6 p.m.  Monday through Friday.

Continuing work

  • Ongoing work to install underground monitoring equipment, which is a part of a comprehensive program, helps crews minimize ground movement and protect structures during tunneling. During the upcoming week, work in this program will occur:
    • 7 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday: Marion Street reduced to one lane between Western Avenue and Alaskan Way.
    • 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday: Intermittent lane closures on Madison Street between Second Avenue and Post Alley.
    • 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Friday: Northbound parking lane and sidewalk closed on Western Avenue between Marion and Madison streets. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
    • 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday: Spring Street reduced to one lane between Post Alley and Western Avenue.

North:

  • Starting on Monday, Oct. 15, Sixth Avenue North between Thomas and Republican streets, Harrison Street between Broad Street and Aurora Avenue North and Republican Street between Sixth Avenue North and Aurora Avenue North will permanently close for construction of the SR 99 tunnel’s north portal.

Monday, Oct. 15 through Friday, Oct. 19

  • Flaggers will alternate traffic on Sixth Avenue North between John Street and Denny Way from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

 

Central:

Saturday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 21

  • Seattle City Light crews will close one southbound lane on First Avenue between Columbia and Cherry streets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Monday, Oct. 15, through the morning of Friday, Oct. 19

  • Both directions of First Avenue South will be closed between South King Street and Railroad Way South from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. On Wednesday, Oct. 17, the closure start time will be delayed until two hours after the Sounders FC game at CenturyLink Field lets out.

Monday, Oct. 15

  • The left lane of Marion Street between Alaskan Way and Western Avenue will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 16, through the morning of Friday, Oct. 19

  • The northbound parking lane of Western Avenue between Marion and Madison streets will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.

Friday, Oct. 19, through Tuesday, Oct. 23

  • The right lane of Madison Street between Post Alley and Western Avenue will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 15, through Thursday, Oct. 18

  • The left lane of Madison Street between Second Avenue and Post Avenue will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

South:

Monday, Oct. 15, through the morning of Friday, Oct. 19

  • The intersection of South Royal Brougham Way and East Frontage Road will be closed intermittently from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
