Highlights for Monday, June 4 – Saturday, June 9

North end:

  • John Street will close between Taylor Avenue North and Sixth Avenue North from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday for utility work. Alley access will be maintained.
  • Sixth Avenue North will close between Harrison Street and Thomas Street around-the-clock from at 7 a.m. Monday to 5 p.m. Friday for utility work.

Central waterfront:

  • The lanes adjacent to bus-stop islands on Alaskan Way and in the ferry holding area will close between Madison and Columbia streets from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Flaggers will alternate traffic in the intersection of Yesler Way and the road under the viaduct from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday.

South end:

  • East Marginal Way South will close between South Atlantic Street to South Massachusetts Street from 7 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday. Local access will be maintained.

Landmark Challenge Grants Applications Now Open for Rehab and Repair of Historic Properties

4Culture is offering another round of funding for stewardship of historic properties all around King County, including those within the City of Seattle, through the Landmark Challenge Grants program. This program funds “bricks and mortar” projects on individually landmarked buildings, sites, structures, objects as well as those in designated districts. Funds awarded through this program may be used for upfront structural or conditions assessments, preservation plans, and cost estimating; architectural design and engineering; materials and contracted labor; essential building systems; and certain project management costs.

4Culture’s Landmark Challenge Grant application period is now open, and Wednesday noon-time workshops are underway through June 27th. Application deadline is July 11. Guidelines and applications are on the 4Culture website.

  • Eligible properties: Seattle landmarks, contributing properties in districts, King County landmarks and suburban city landmarks
  • Eligible activities: bricks & mortar, also project planning, design, permits, etc.
  • Cost share: 1-to-1 cash match required
  • Minimum ask: $10,000
  • Applicants must indicate their intent to apply, and schedule a site visit

Highlights for Tuesday, May 29 – Friday, June 1

Corridor wide:

  • The southbound SR 99 off-ramp to South Atlantic Street will close from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday.

North end:

  • John Street will close between Taylor Avenue North and Sixth Avenue North from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, Tuesday through Saturday.
  • Northbound Sixth Avenue North will close between Thomas and Harrison streets from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, Tuesday through Friday.
  • Flaggers will alternate traffic through one lane on Thomas Street between SR 99 and Sixth Avenue North from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Central waterfront:

  • The lanes adjacent to bus stop islands  on Alaskan Way and in the ferry holding area will close between Madison and Columbia streets around-the-clock Tuesday through Friday
  • Flaggers will alternate traffic in the intersection of Yesler Way and the road under the viaduct from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Friday.
