Meet Chris:
Chris implements the Alliance for Pioneer Square’s marketing and communication strategy. Chris utilizes a diversity and equity lens to tell the Pioneer Square community’s story through various digital and print communication channels. Chris honors the authenticity that Pioneer Square exudes by finding innovative approaches to amplify the neighborhood’s ethos.
Occidental Square Mall: In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Downtown Seattle Association- who manages the Occidental Square Park- installed heart shaped ice sculptures in Pioneer Square’s iconic park. Staff members from the Alliance for Pioneer Square witnessed the installation of the sculptures. The sculptures were constructed in a modularly, with small pieces being combined to create the larger object. The ice pieces were adhered to one another with water, which subsequently froze creating a bond.
One Year With the Alliance for Pioneer Square:
This month marks Chris’ one year anniversary with the Alliance for Pioneer Square. “The past year has been a highlight of my professional career,” Chris notes. After joining the Alliance for Pioneer Square in February 2019 as Marketing Manager, Chris has led several projects (with an inestimable amount of support from the Alliance for Pioneer Square staff), including the 2019-2020 Pioneer Square Neighborhood Map and Guide, Pioneer Square Made video campaign, and Pioneer Square Holidays campaign. Chris says that with a support group of colleagues and stakeholders, anything is possible. “The Alliance for Pioneer Square is a small team- a small but mighty team of dedicated individuals,” Chris says.
Chris says that he finds the most satisfaction in his role from connecting with the Pioneer Square community. “I feel a strong sense of joy when I am building relationships with the folks in the neighborhood- residents, business owners, MID staff, everyone,” Chris says gleefully. “The Alliance for Pioneer Square’s ability to act as a warm liaison between the neighborhood and private, public, and nonprofit sector organizations is really special.” Chris aims to continue to develop and strengthen the Alliance for Pioneer Square relationships as he grows within the organization.
